Speaking to the press after the match, Swiatek revealed her surprise at her level. The world No. 2 claimed that she took painkillers during the timeout that helped her get back to her best for the rest of the match.
"No, I wasn't expecting that. I didn't take medical timeout to throw Katie off her game. I did it because I had to and I didn't feel well. But I took some, you know, painkillers, and they started working pretty quickly. I was able to move a bit better," Swiatek said.
Novak Djokovic speaks about his having his family in Australia for the first time
Novak Djokovic is joined by his wife, Jelena, and two children in Australia for the first time. The Serbian is currently competing in Brisbane before the Australian Open.
Speaking after his win against Gael Monfils, Djokovic revealed that Jelena, his daughter Tara, and son Stefan have joined him in Australia for the first time. While Jelena has visited the country in the past, it is the first time that the whole Djokovic family is together during the Australian Open.
"As I mentioned on the court, this is the first time my family comes with me, my children, my wife. I was actually a little bit surprised as well, my wife said she wanted to take the kids on the road and come to Australia. I wasn't expecting that because I know it's a long trip, school and everything. Many challenges that you have to face as a parent," Djokovic said.
