Iga Swiatek sheds tears after defeating Naomi Osaka in French Open 2R
Iga Swiatek was spotted crying uncontrollably after narrowly avoiding defeat by Naomi Osaka at the 2024 French Open. Throughout most of their second-round match, Swiatek trailed her fellow four-time Grand Slam champion, but she made a dramatic comeback in the final moments to secure a victory with a 7-6 (1), 1-6, 7-5 scoreline.
A recently surfaced video showed the two-time French Open defending champion in tears during her post-match recovery.

Denis Shapovalov pulled off a 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Frances Tiafoe at the French Open second round.
After the conclusion of the match, Tiafoe gave Shapovalov a brief handshake that looked unfriendly and completely ignored the chair umpire by not shaking hand. Ons Jabeur evaluates her decline in performance which is impacting her status among tennis favorites
Ons Jabeur acknowledged her recent decline in form, which has removed her from the list of favorites in women's tennis tournaments.
This season, she has faced mostly early exits, with her best results being quarterfinal appearances at the Abu Dhabi Open and Madrid Masters. Since reaching the finals at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, the Tunisian tennis star hasn't advanced beyond the fourth round in Grand Slam events.
In a press conference after her second-round victory over Camila Osorio 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, Jabeur admitted that her name is no longer held in the same regard as rivals Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina.
"Obviously I am what I am today. And if people are not talking about me like they're talking about Iga Swiatek or Aryna Sabalenka or Elena Rybakina, it's for a reason, you know. I just want to have what I deserve. I deserve to be in spot eight - or nine, because Jessica Pegula pulled out. But, yeah, that's tennis," Jabeur said.
Ons Jabeur will take on 31st seed Leylah Fernandez in the third round on Friday, May 31.
Jannik Sinner's girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya continues to show support for the Italian at the French Open
Anna Kalinskaya was spotted supporting her boyfriend Jannik Sinner during his second-round victory over Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 at the 2024 French Open. The new tennis couple were previously seen cheering for each other during their respective first-round matches in Paris.
Second seed Jannik Sinner advanced to the third round where he will face Pavel Kotov. Anna Kalinskaya, on the other hand, lost 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the second round against Bianca Andreescu.
Novak Djokovic praises David Goffin for defending himself against hostile French Open crowd
Tennis legend Novak Djokovic commented on the crowd situation after David Goffin slammed the French Open crowd for being rude to him during his first-round match against home favorite Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
Djokovic was questioned about his opinion on the issue during the post-match press conference after his second-round victory over Robert Carballes Baena. The Serb said that he backed Goffin’s decision to stand up for himself and that every player had to do that at some point.
"I know that in the outside courts I saw a little bit of highlights of Goffin's match and that they can be even more loud and inappropriate at times. It’s a fine line when that line is passed, I guess, and when it starts becoming disrespectful towards the player," Djokovic said.
"In those instances, I understand that a player like Goffin the other day reacted, because I have experienced quite a few times those particular situations. So I support a player standing up against people who are disrespecting and heckling him. It's not always possible to tolerate," he added.
Top seed Novak Djokovic will face 30th seed Lorenzo Musetti in the third round. David Goffin, on the other hand, faced a second-round exit against fourth seed Alexander Zverev.
