Nick Kyrgios delivers sarcastic retort after PTPA's Executive Director blasts US Open 'Honey Deuce' sales
Nick Kyrgios responded sarcastically to Ahmad Nassar’s critique of the US Open’s Honey Deuce cocktail sales figures. Nassar is the executive director of Novak Djokovic-backed player's union, the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA).
The Honey Deuce cocktail, made with vodka, lemonade, raspberry liqueur, and honeydew melon balls resembling tennis balls, saw record sales at the 2024 US Open, generating $12.8 million at $23 each. In comparison, 460,000 Honey Deuces were sold at the 2023 US Open, earning $10.1 million.
Nassar sarcastically replied to a post on X (formerly Twitter) that highlighted the sales and compared them to the combined $10.8 million prize money for the men’s and women’s winners and runner-ups.
""Incredible" is one way to describe it… "pathetic" is another," Nassar said.
Kyrgios, who was part of the ESPN broadcasting team for the US Open, responded to Nassar’s remarks with his own dose of humor.
"Tennis is an incredible sport. We take care of the players," Kyrgios wrote.
Martina Navratilova supports Barbra Streisand's endorsement of Taylor Swift's backing for Kamala Harris
Martina Navratilova supported Barbra Streisand's endorsement of Taylor Swift’s backing of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for the upcoming US Presidential election.
Following the September 10 presidential debate between Harris and Republican Donald Trump, Swift expressed her support for Harris and her vice-presidential choice, Tim Walz, on Instagram.
Streisand praised Swift's endorsement, referencing her Harvard commencement speech and statements by Daniel Patrick Moynihan to emphasize the importance of holding political opinions.
"I applaud @taylorswift13 and her statement endorsing Kamala Harris. As I said in my Harvard speech years ago, "I am, first and foremost, a citizen: a tax-paying, voting, concerned American citizen who happens to have opinions." As the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan said, 'Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts.’"
Tennis legend Martina Navratilova backed Streisand’s comments by retweeting the post. The 2024 United States elections are set to take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
