Coco Gauff revealed how she felt about Rafael Nadal's straight-set loss against Alexander Zverev in the first round at the 2024 French Open, likely his final appearance at the event.

Gauff couldn't watch the match live due to her 6-1, 6-1 victory over Julia Avdeeva in the first round. In a Tennis Channel interview, the American expressed relief that Nadal didn't cry during his speech, which would have made her cry too.

"I was watching it in the press room, but like an office and we were just watching the speech. Luckily, he didn't cry because I think if he cried, I would've cried," she said.

The 20-year-old admitted it was heartbreaking to see the 14-time champion bow out early, given his historic dominance at the tournament.

"I was getting a little bit emotional because it's literally all I've ever known my whole life is him winning here so it just sucks to see," she added.

Third seed Coco Gauff advanced to the second round where she will face Tamara Zidansek.
