"I need these things too. It is clear that each player is different, but for me, to have my best level I need to separate my personal life from tennis. Have my days off, be able to rest my mind, be with family and friends. Put the racket aside. It is a time that suits me very well,” he added.

Emma Raducanu explained her choice to turn down a wild card spot in the Great Britain tennis squad for the Summer Olympics in Paris.

After her semifinal loss to eventual champion Katie Boulter at the Nottingham Open, Raducanu discussed her decision to pass on the Paris Olympics, which will be played on clay. Addressing the criticism, the British tennis star explained that the choice was made purely for health and fitness reasons.

"For me, it was pretty clear from the start. I’m very single-minded, I do things my own way and at my own time, whenever I want, not in a diva way, but prioritising my body and my health," Raducanu said.

Raducanu emphasized that, given her recent history of injuries, she wants to avoid adding "additional stress" to her body.

"If I’m fit, if I’m giving 100 per cent, I know great things are coming. I just don’t think there’s any need to put additional stress on my body or any risks, especially with my [injury] history," Raducanu added.
