Day 4 of the tennis tournament at the Paris Olympics will see the singles round of 16 matches take place as 16 players aim to reach the quarterfinals of the men's and women's events. In the women's singles event, the likes of Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff will both be in action.
While Swiatek will face Wang Xiyu, Coco Gauff will lock horns with Donna Vekic. The likes of Danielle Collins, Angelique Kerber and Leylah Fernandez will also be in action.
On that note, let's take a look at the predictions for some of the women's singles matches on Day 4 of the tennis tournament at Paris Olympics 2024.
#1. Danielle Collins vs Camila Osorio
Eighth seed Danielle Collins takes on Camila Osorio in the third round of the Paris Olympics. It will be the very first encounter between the two.
Collins booked her place in the Round of 16 after overcoming former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in a three-setter. Osorio, on the other hand, registered a straight-set win over Dayana Yastremska 7-6(4), 6-4.
The Colombian will be in good spirits after reaching the third round, considering she eliminated Jelena Ostapenko. However, Collins' current form seems relatively too good to rule her out of a quarterfinal appearance.
Predicted Winner: Danielle Collins.
#2. Elina Svitolina vs Barbora Krejcikova
Ninth seed Barbora Krejcikova will face Elina Svitolina in the third round of the Paris Olympics. This will be the second meeting between the two, with the Czech winning their only prior encounter 6-3, 6-2 at the 2021 French Open.
While Krejcikova registered a comprehensive 6-3, 6-2 win over Wang Xinyu, Svitolina had to come back from a set down to beat fifth seed Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Both players have dropped one set each so far throughout the competition, but Krejcikova's composure, coupled with her mix of aggression and counterpunching, should see her eliminate the Ukrainian and reach the quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics.
Predicted Winner: Barbora Krejcikova
#3. Jasmine Paolini vs Anna Karolina Schmiedlova
Fourth seed Jasmine Paolini will lock horns with Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in the third round of the Paris Olympics. This will be the fifth tour-level meeting between the two, with the Italian leading 3-1 in the head-to-head.
Both players won their respective second-round matches, with Paolini beating Magda Linette 6-4, 6-1, while Schmiedlova triumphed 6-4, 6-4 over 14th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia.
Paolini currently looks in tremendous form and it will definitely take nothing less than a miracle from Schmiedlova to beat her.
Predicted Winner: Jasmine Paolini.
