#5 Kerber reaches her first Wimbledon final

After a series of first-round exits at tournaments including at the French Open, Angelique Kerber showed the world that she was no flash in the pan with a stunning run on the grass courts of SW19 that saw her set up a final against Serena Williams again.

In fact, she did not drop a single set en route to the final, including a straight sets demolition of Venus Williams in the semi-finals.

Though Serena convincingly defeated her and won her 22^nd title, Kerber had proven that she was playing some of the best tennis of her life by reaching 2/3 Grand Slam finals so far.
