#2 Roger Federer (5 titles; 66-13 win-loss record)
Five-time champion Roger Federer is one of the most successful players at Indian Wells. His tally of 66 wins at the tournament is the highest by any player at a hardcourt Masters 1000 tournament.
After losing his first Masters 1000 final at 2002 Miami to Andre Agassi, Federer lifted his first title at a hardcourt Masters 1000 tournament in 2004 by beating Tim Henman in the final. The Swiss would then return to successfully defend his title and complete the first 'three-peat' in tournament history in his next two appearances at Indian Wells.

Federer lifted a record-equaling 5th title at the tournament by beating compatriot Stan Wawrinka in the 2017 final. But he failed to take the outright lead in the Indian Wells title leaderboard as he squandered three match points on serve in the 2018 final against Juan Martin del Potro, and then lost to Dominic Thiem in a three-set final in 2019.
