Karen Khachanov expressed his disappointment at Ugo Humbert's behavior during their thrilling semifinal match at the 2024 Paris Masters. The Frenchman was seen celebrating each and every point with much enthusiasm even though the Russian was struggling with an injury in the closing stages of the match.

Khachanov and Humbert faced each other in the semifinals of the final Masters 1000 event of the year. The 15th seed staged an impressive comeback to win (6)6-7, 6-4, 6-3 to reach the final. However, it is to be noted that the Russian was struggling with a leg injury during the deciding set and also called for a medical timeout.

Despite Khachanov's struggles, the home favorite didn't stop celebrating his points. This led to a tense handshake after the match, where the Russian didn't shy away from making his disappointment heard.

Talking to Ziggo Sport after the match, Karen Khachanov revealed that he had told Ugo Humbert that he needed to show more respect. The Russian also mentioned how the French was celebrating whilst he was on the ground struggling with pain.

Fans took to X (formerly Twitter), to back Khachanov's comments. One fan said that Ugo Humbert needed a lesson in decency and felt that the Frenchman must be 'success-deprived' if he had to celebrate wins over an injured opponent.

"Sorry, but Ugo needs a lesson in decency. It is ok to be excited but I watched him celebrate a double fault...is he so success deprived that he has to stoop so low!" the fan commented.

Another fan agreed with the 28-year-old and felt that Humbert's behavior was 'rude' and 'insufferable'.

"I'm with Khachanov. I have never seen a tennis player who's done what Humbert did. It's rude and insufferable," the fan agreed.

Here are some other reactions from the fans.

"He is right, today and yesterday was way over the limit," a fan said.
"Ugo Humbert must be on cloud nine after beating Carlos. All that fist pumping and chest thumping really showed us how humble he is. Khachanov’s right; there’s a line between being pumped and just plain obnoxious. Beating Carlos doesn’t make him an instant legend," a fan opined.
"Zverev will win it. You cannot be celebrating while the opponent is on the ground. Disgraceful!" a fan thought.
"He really celebrated while he saw him on the ground what a bad attitude so shameless," a fan mentioned.

After defeating Karen Khachanov, Ugo Humbert's dream run will have its final stop in the final of the Paris Masters. He will face third seed Alexander Zverev. This will be the third match between the two men with their head-to-head currently at 1-1.

Interestingly, their last match came at the Paris Masters last year where the German prevailed 6-4, (3)6-7, 7-6(5) in a thrilling encounter.

Both men have had scintillating runs to the finals with the French ousting the likes of second seed Carlos Alcaraz, Jordan Thompson, Khachanov and others. On the other hand, Zverev has played some crisp tennis and has ousted 10th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, 13th seed Holger Rune and others.

Ugo Humbert will be looking to win the first Masters 1000 title of his career while Alexander Zverev will look to clinch his seventh.
