Andrey Rublev vs Fabian Marozsan preview
Top seed Andrey Rublev will take on Hungary's Fabian Marozsan for a place in the semifinals of the 2024 Croatia Open on Thursday (July 25).
Rublev's form was in a rut coming into this week's ATP 250 tournament in Umag, as he had dropped his last four tour-level outings. However, the Russian played some commanding tennis to win his first match since May, downing Camilo Ugo Carabelli in straight sets to reach the final.
The 26-year-old has enjoyed a good season this year regardless of his recent mental struggles. He won the Hong Kong Tennis Open in January before securing his second ATP Masters 1000 triumph at the Madrid Open four months later.
The World No. 9's opponent, Fabian Marozsan, has given a respectable account of himself at the Croatia Open this week, beating Thiago Monteiro and Alexander Shevchenko en route to the last eight. The 24-year-old has won 17 of his 36 matches this year, with his best result coming at the Miami Open — where he reached the quarterfinals against all odds.

Andrey Rublev vs Fabian Marozsan prediction
Rublev has shown a good level when it comes down to attacking tennis in 2024. The Russian has won 76% of his first serve points; while he doesn't possess a huge serve, his flat forehand compliments his first delivery well. He has great adeptness at firing from that wing on clay, which is considered by many to be his best surface.
Marozsan is also an offensive baseliner but has a little more variety than his more experienced opponent. The Hungarian likes hitting drop-shots in the middle of long rallies. That said, Rublev is one of the best movers on the ATP Tour and will not let anything go past him.
The World No. 9 seems to have gotten his mojo back. He is the favorite to win this match and will be eager to go all the way in Umag this week.
Pick: Rublev in straight sets.
