Coco Gauff vs Donna Vekic preview
Coco Gauff will face Donna Vekic as USA face Croatia in the final tie of Group A of the United Cup.
Gauff produced some impressive performances during the tail-end of the 2024 season, which included winning her second WTA 1000 singles title at the China Open and triumphing at the WTA Finals in Riyadh.
The 20-year-old started her 2025 season at the United Cup and faced Leylah Fernandez in the USA-Canada tie. Gauff put in a fine performance to win 6-3, 6-2 and she later teamed up with Taylor Fritz to win the decisive doubles match against Felix Auger-Aliassime and Leylah Fernandez.
Donna Vekic ended her 2024 season at the Wuhan Open, where she reached the third round before suffering a 4-6, 6-3, 4-6 defeat to Yulia Putintseva. The Croat won 32 out of 52 matches throughout the year.
The Croat started her 2025 season against Leylah Fernandez during the Croatia-Canada tie. Vekic was unable to stop the 2021 US Open runner-up from registering a 6-4, 6-3 win and Croatia eventually lost the tie 1-2.

Coco Gauff vs Donna Vekic prediction
Coco Gauff's performances during the end of 2024 make her the favorite entering the match. However, Vekic beat the American a few months back, so she should not be written off.
Gauff produced just one ace in her last match but she did win 27 out of 31 points on her first serve. The 20-year-old's second serve was a bit of a question mark at a time when she was struggling with form. However, she improved that during the end of the season. The American's aggressive, hard-hitting style and mentality will also come in handy.
Vekic won 23 out of 31 points in her match against Fernandez and served two aces. However, she also produced six double faults and cannot afford to serve too many of them against someone of Gauff's quality. The Croat will also look to be aggressive in order to give the American a run for her money.
While Vekic is no pushover, Coco Gauff's overall form over the past few months and her considerably better record on hard courts should see her win the match and give the United States the lead.
Pick: Gauff to win in straight sets.
