Hubert Hurkacz vs Billy Harris preview
Poland's Hubert Hurkacz will face Great Britain's Billy Harris in the quarterfinals of the United Cup 2025 on January 2.
Hurkacz has come through a difficult tie against the Czech Republic, which Poland won 2-1. Hurkacz lost a close three-setter against Tomas Machac, but then teamed up with Iga Swiatek to win their doubles match to steer the Poles to a victory.
Earlier, the 27-year-old Pole had lost to Casper Ruud of Norway, too. Swiatek helped Poland win that tie as well, but Hurkacz's form remains a slight concern.
On the other hand, Great Britain secured a win over Australia to qualify for the quarterfinals. Katie Boulter starred in their victory, but Harris suffered a chastening defeat at the hands of Alex de Minaur. The 29-year-old Brit is ranked 125th in the world at the moment.

Hubert Hurkacz vs Billy Harris prediction
Hurkacz is unlikely to get a better opportunity to play himself back into form than the match against Harris. The Pole is ranked 16th in the world at the moment, but is probably among the top 10 players on hard courts. He is a big man and his powerful serve and forehand can prove to be a handful for any opponent.
In addition to that, the Pole is an adept volleyer, too, and his net-skills are among the best in the world. His class as a player should be too much for Harris to handle. The Brit can be a solid fighter, but does not probably have the overall game to topple Hurkacz. Harris has the ability to play the angles well and has a powerful backhand. However, Hurkacz is likely to exploit the Brit's weaker serve on Thursday.
One can never rule out the posiibility of an upset altogether in a tennis match, but Harris will probably find the task a bit too difficult. It will take a really good performance from him to make a match of it.
Pick: Hubert Hurkacz to win in straight sets.
