World No. 4 Taylor Fritz will aim to start his 2025 season on a good note when he takes on Zhang Zhizhen of China at the 2025 United Cup. Fritz had a record-breaking year in 2024, adding two more titles to his ever-improving resume. He also made American tennis history by reaching the final of the US Open.

However, the start of the 2025 season has been a bit of a mixed bag for Fritz. While he lost 6-4, 5-7, 3-6 to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the first group-stage encounter at the United Cup, he bounced back in style, securing a dominant 6-3, 6-2 win over Borna Coric in the next. With Coco Gauff by his side, Fritz won both the doubles matches at the United Cup as well.

Meanwhile, Zhang Zhizhen made his mark on the ATP Tour in 2024. The Chinese player reached his maiden Tour final at the Hangzhou Open, where he fell to Marin Cilic. However, he won the mixed doubles silver medal at the Paris Olympics alongside Wang Xinyu.

Zhang started his campaign at the United Cup in splendid fashion, winning 6-3, 6-0 against Thiago Monteiro of Brazil. However, in the second match, he faced World No. 2 Alexander Zverev of Germany. Despite winning the first set 6-2, Zhang got blown away in the rest of the match, as he lost 6-2, 0-6, 2-6.

Fritz has excelled on hard courts in his career so far. The American has reached 12 Tour finals on the surface, winning five titles. He reached three hard-court finals last year, winning the Delray Beach Open. The American player will be one of the top contenders for the Australian Open title later this month and therefore will be keen to keep his good form going, ahead of the Melbourne Major.
