Coco Gauff vs Emma Navarro Preview
The fourth round at the 2024 US Open will feature an All-American clash between third seed Coco Gauff and 13th seed Emma Navarro. Gauff has been in good form in 2024, winning 39 of the 52 matches in the season, with a title at the ASB Classic earlier this year.
However, the American's form in the build-up to the US Open was poor, losing to Diana Shnaider and Yulia Putintseva in the early rounds of the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open respectively.
The defending champion started her 2024 campaign with two dominant straight-set victories over Varvara Gracheva and Tatjana Maria in the opening two rounds. However, in the third round against 27th-seeded Elina Svitolina, Gauff showed her class and composure to win the match after dropping the first set.
Emma Navarro has been in great form in the 2024 season, winning 48 out of her 67 matches so far, and a title at the Hobart International. The American player was in good form before the US Open, reaching the semi-final of the Canadian Open and the Monterrey Open.
She lost to Amanda Anisimova and Linda Noskova respectively.
The 13th seed opened her New York campaign by losing just four games in her first two matches against Anna Blinkova and Arantxa Rus. In the third round, the American player battled past the 19th-seeded Marta Kostyuk in a tough three-set match.

Coco Gauff vs Emma Navarro prediction
In her match against Svitolina, Gauff won 79 percent of her first serve points. On the return wing, the third seed won 61 percent of the return points against the second serve of her opponent. However, the American made 35 unforced errors and could deliver only 53 percent of her first serve.
Naarro's serving and returning had scope for improvement in her match against Kostyuk. Even though she landed 76 percent of first serves, she could only win 58 percent of the total service points in the match. On the return side as well, the American could only win 41 percent of the return points.
During their Wimbledon clash, Gauff's unforced errors, especially on her forehand side were the reason for her downfall. If the third seed can shore up that aspect of her play, she will have the advantage in the match. For Navarro, she needs to win more points on her first serve.
While Gauff has lost to her compatriot before, she has a fair chance of coming out on top if she replicates the kind of performance she produced in the earlier rounds.
