A pivotal moment in last night’s quarterfinal match between Tomas Berdych and Marin Cilic, that went against the former, seemed to affect the player badly enough to hasten the result.
Berdych was working his way back after losing the first two sets against Cilic. At 4-2, 30-15 in the third set, Berdych believed that he had just about managed to pick the ball off before it bounced a second time.
But the upmire Louise Engzell had her eye on the ball the whole time. She called the point to Cilic, much to the chagrin of an enraged Berdych who dissolved into an involved argument with the chair.
In the above video, you will see why Berdych may have blown his chances by letting his emotions get the better of him; the ball did seem to bounce twice. He never quite recovered from his angry outburst, succumbing eventually in straight sets to the big-serving Croat.
