One of the oldest tennis tournaments, the US Open Tennis Championships, aka the US Open, is an annual tennis event held in Queens, New York, since 1881.


Except for 2020, the US Open has always been the year's fourth and last Grand Slam event chronologically since 1987. The Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon are the other three listed in chronological order.


From August 28 to September 10, the 2023 US Open will be held at The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens, New York City. The US Open begins on the last Monday in August and lasts two weeks, with the Labor Day weekend falling on the middle weekend.


The United States Tennis Association (USTA), a nonprofit organization, owns and runs the US Open, with Patrick Galbraith serving as chairman. Tennis development in the United States is funded by ticket and sponsorship sales as well as television agreements.

Iga Swiatek, the women’s singles 2022 US Open champion, did tighten her hold on the rankings in the women's tournament to establish a nearly invincible lead at the top as world No. 1.
