The Roger Federer vs Novak Djokovic semifinal match in Dubai was expected to be a pulsating encounter, and it didn’t disappoint. While Federer came out as the 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 winner, the rallies in the match were of the highest quality throughout.
The best of those rallies came on set point in the first set, with Djokovic leading 5-3. To call that point ‘spectacular’ would not be doing even an iota of justice to it. It had everything – blistering groundstrokes, side-to-side sprints, deft touch – you name it, you had it. Ultimately, Federer conjured a magical reflex backhand lob from a seemingly hopeless position to push Djokovic all the way back to the baseline, which made everyone in the stadium get to their feet.
