Video: Longest women's Grand Slam tennis match

The following is a fourth round Australian Open match between Italy’s Francesca Schiavone and Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova at Melbourne park in the 2011 edition of the tournament. Schiavone prevailed 6-4 1-6 16-14 after battling for four hours and fourty-four minutes against her Russian counterpart under the scorching heat at Melbourne Park.

The two ex-French open champions battled hard for every point, with the match reaching a totally different level in the third and final set as both went for their shots. Ultimately, the Italian prevailed after saving six match-points and etched her name in the history of women Grand Slam tennis, for the time being.
