Rafael Nadal defeated two-time defending champion Novak Djokovic 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (2) on Saturday (10th August) to reach the final of the Rogers Cup in Montreal, Canada, where he will face Milos Raonic.
Milos Raonic defeated wildcard Vasek Pospisil in three sets on Saturday to reach the final of the Rogers Cup.
Raonic, ranked 13th in the world, beat his fellow Canadian 6-4 1-6 7-6 to reach his first Masters series final.
And Raonic will enter the world’s top 10 on Monday becoming the first Canadian ever to join the elite top 10 of men’s professional tennis.
The 22-year-old will face Rafael Nadal in the final, after the Spainard beat two-time defending champion Novak Djokovic 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 in the other semi-final.
The pair traded a set each before Nadal won the third, to set up a meeting with Raonic.
It was Nadal’s second successive victory over Djokovic at this stage of a tournament following his epic five-set triumph at the French Open in June.
