25-year-old Elena Rybakina is a professional tennis player from Kazakhstan. She made her WTA Tour debut in October 2017 at the Kremlin Cup. But she first came into the limelight in 2022, after winning her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, becoming the first player from Kazakhstan to win a major title. She has won eight WTA singles titles in her career so far, including one Grand Slam and two WTA 1000 titles. She is ranked No. 6 in the world by WTA as of late 2024.

Besides winning Wimbledon in 2022, Elena Rybakina also made the final of the Australian Open in 2023, where she lost against Aryna Sabalenka in an entertaining three-set match. Her best performance in the French Open came in 2021, where she reached the quarterfinals after defeating Serena Williams in the fourth round.

The 2024 season has been quite successful for Elena Rybakina; she has won three WTA 500 titles, including the 2024 Brisbane International, the 2024 Abu Dhabi Open and the 2024 Stuttgart Open. At the Stuttgart Open, she defeated 2-time defending champion Iga Swiatek in the semifinals and Marta Kostyuk in the final. She reached the semifinal of the 2024 Madrid Open and the final of the 2024 Qatar TotalEnergies Open, where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka and Swiatek, respectively. She also finished as a finalist at the 2024 Miami Open, where she lost to Danielle Collins.

Who is Elena Rybakina's Coach, Goran Ivanisevic?

Goran Ivanisevic is the coach of Elena Rybakina. The pair began their partnership in late 2024, after Ivanisevic quit the team of Novak Djokovic.

The Croatian Goran Ivanisevic remains the only player to win Wimbledon as a wild-card, which he achieved in 2001. He is a former World No. 2, and won 22 singles titles during the course of his career. A talented southpaw, Ivanisevic also won nine doubles trophies. Opting to become a coach after retiring, the 53-year-old has mentored the likes of Marin Cilic, Tomas Berdych, Milos Raonic and Novak Djokovic. As a result, Elena Rybakina is the first WTA star whom he has decided to coach.

Speaking about the ability of Elena Rybakina, Goran Ivanisevic said in late 2024, "She has got a big serve - tall, strong hitter who plays aggressively; she won Wimbledon just like me. I feel I can teach her something. I mean, she is already No. 5 in the world, but I think she can win more Slams, that's for sure."

At the age of 18, Elena Rybakina hired Andrei Chesnokov to be her private coach. The two had previously trained together at the Spartak Tennis Club. Chesnokov did not accompany her on tournament trips; he only mentored her in Moscow.

Andrei Chesnokov was itself a professional tennis player, who achieved his highest ATP singles rank of No. 9 in 1991. He won 7 ATP singles in his career, including the Monte Carlo Open in 1990, and the Canadian Open in 1991. His best Grand Slam performance came in 1989 at the French Open, where he reached the semifinals.
