Pam Shriver, the former tennis player from the United States, is currently coaching Donna Vekic, the 28-year-old from Croatia. The Croat beat Paula Badosa of Spain 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 in the fourth round to book her place in the last eight, following which she beat Lulu Sun to reach the semifinals.

Shriver, a former World No. 3 and US Open runner-up, has thus helped Vekic reach the quarterfinal at Wimbledon for the first time in her career. The American was known for her prowess as a doubles player, but is now making her mark as a coach. Shriver has also taken up the job of a broadcaster and commentator in the past.

Donna Vekic has done really well under Pam Shriver's tutelage at Wimbledon this year:

Vekic has dropped three sets in her four matches so far. Her scalps include 28th seed Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine. However, she did not have a good clay-court season this year and failed to make deep runs into any of the big tournaments on clay (Madrid Open, Italian Open and French Open).

She also performed ordinarily in s-Hertogenbosch and Berlin, but then managed to reach the final of the Bad Homburg Open where she lost to Diana Shnaider.

Vekic reached a career-high ranking of 19th in the world in 2019. She is currently ranked 37th. The Croat has won four singles titles on the WTA Tour in her career and has an overall win-loss record of 359-272, winning approximately 57% of her matches.

Pam Shriver, who is one of the greatest doubles players of all time among women, won 21 singles titles in her long career. She also won nearly 70% of her matches and could help Donna Vekic immensely in improving her game. The Croat should still be able to squeeze in a few more years of tennis at the top level and it will be interesting to see if she can keep improve her ranking.
