#4 The old guard still dominating the Grand Slams
Despite some great performances coming in from the likes of Alexander Zverev, Dominic Thiem on the ATP Tour throughout the season, they have not yet been able to step up to the plate in the Grand Slams.
Wimbledon also saw a repeat of the same script, as the 20-year-old Zverev and the 23-year-old Thiem got knocked out in the round of 16 in five-set battles.
The intermediate generation, consisting of the likes of Milos Raonic and Grigor Dimitrov did not do much better, as they too got eliminated in the quarter-final and round of 16 respectively.
Despite Roger Federer being the only one from the big four to go beyond the quarter-finals stage, Wimbledon 2017 saw the old guard outperform the younger generation, which was clearly seen in the semi-finals, where Marin Cilic, at 28, was the youngest.
