Grigor Dimitrov vs Dusan Lajovic preview
World No. 10 Grigor Dimitrov will go up against Dusan Lajovic in the first round of the 2024 Wimbledon.
Dimitrov ended his six-year-long trophy drought by winning the Brisbane International at the start of the year. That didn't lead to a good run at the Australian Open as he was knocked out in the third round. He made a couple of more finals during the remainder of the hardcourt season.
Dimitrov reached the finals in Marseille and Miami but lost to Ugo Humbert and Jannik Sinner, respectively. The clay swing was a mixed bag for him, though he concluded it on a high. The Bulgarian finally reached his first quarterfinal at the French Open and lost to Sinner once again.
Dimitrov participated in the Cinch Championships to prepare for Wimbledon. He scored an easy 6-1, 6-2 win over Adrian Mannarino in his opener, but fell to Sebastian Korda in the second round.
Lajovic's best results this season all came on clay. He reached the semifinals of the Barcelona Open and the quarterfinals of the Rio Open and the Argentina Open.
However, the Serb stumbled in the biggest tournaments on the surface. He bowed out in the first round of the Madrid Open and didn't make it past the second round of the Italian Open and the French Open. He hasn't competed since his exit from the claycourt Major.

Grigor Dimitrov vs Dusan Lajovic prediction
Dimitrov is enjoying a career renaissance this year and has performed quite well in most tournaments. He suffered an early exit to begin his time on grass and will be keen to rectify it with a deep run at Wimbledon, where he made the semifinals back in 2014.
Lajovic has competed on grass since 2014 but has managed to notch up only six wins over a decade. Four of those six victories have come at the All England Club, where he has never made it past the second round. For comparison, Dimitrov's record on the surface stands at 43-32.
Lajovic is also 10-27 against top-10 players, though he's 4-5 against them since the start of 2023. However, his results this year have been quite average, and Dimitrov has twice as many wins as him this season. Coupled with the huge disparity in their results on grass, this is likely to be a routine win for the Bulgarian.
Pick: Grigor Dimitrov to win in straight sets.
