Sebastian Baez vs Brandon Nakashima preview
18th seed Sebastian Baez will face Brandon Nakashima in the first round of the 2024 Wimbledon.
Following a second-round exit from the French Open, Baez arrived at Queen's Club for the Cinch Championships to begin his grass swing. His time at the tournament was rather brief as he lost to eventual champion Tommy Paul in the first round.
Baez moved on to the Rothesay International, where he was the fourth seed. He took on Miomir Kecmanovic after a first-round bye, and was promptly shown the door once again as he was beaten 6-3, 6-2.
Nakashima's grass season commenced at the Challenger level as he participated in the Surbiton Trophy while the French Open was still going on. He made the semifinals there, and carried the momentum on to the ATP Tour.
The American's next event was the Boss Open in Stuttgart, and he reached the last four there as well, losing to eventual winner Jack Draper. He didn't have much luck at the Cinch Championships, where Lorenzo Musetti ousted him in the second round.
Sebastian Baez vs Brandon Nakashima head-to-head

Sebastian Baez vs Brandon Nakashima prediction
Baez is in the midst of a rough patch, and remains without a win on grass so far. He's on a three-match losing skid to boot, and given his record on the surface, there's a good chance that this streak gets extended.
Baez has a 3-6 career record on grass, and has only gone as far as the second round at Wimbledon. Nakashima has steadily improved his results this year. He started the year ranked in No. 93, and has now moved up to No. 64. He has also performed better than the Argentine on the surface.
Nakashima has made it past the first hurdle at the All England Club only once in three attempts. However, he made it all the way to the fourth round when he managed to do so. His 10-10 record on grass is better compared to Baez but there's room for improvement.
Nakashima has a 5-14 record against top-20 opposition, which he is in a position to improve considering his opponent's form. Given how Baez has performed in recent weeks, and coupled with his results on grass, the American will be favored to make a winning start here.
Pick: Brandon Nakashima to win in four sets.
