Iga Swiatek vs Barbora Krejcikova preview
World No. 2 Iga Swiatek will take on Barbora Krejcikova in the group stage match of the WTA Finals on Sunday (3 November).
Swiatek has been among the top performers this year by amassing title-winning runs in the Qatar Open and the BNP Paribas Open. She also had a stellar season on clay by dominating the singles competition in Madrid, Rome and Paris. The 23-year-old defeated Jasmine Paolini to lift her fourth title at the French Open, 6-2, 6-1.
Swiatek will return to the women's tour this week following a quarterfinal exit in the US Open. She outfoxed the likes of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Liudmila Samsonova en route to the last eight, but couldn't make her mark against Jessica Pegula. The American defeated the Pole in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Barbora Krejcikova, meanwhile, has also had a promising season this year. After a quarterfinal run in the Australian Open, she stunned the women's locker room by claiming her maiden title in Wimbledon. She also reached the quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics, where she lost to Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in straight sets.
The Czech will enter Riyadh on the back of a quarterfinal exit in the Ningbo Open. After cruising past Ma Ye-Xin in the second round, she was forced to retire mid-match against Mirra Andreeva due to a back injury. Krejcikova will be eager to impress in Riyadh this year.

Iga Swiatek vs Barbora Krejcikova prediction
Iga Swiatek missed the Asian hardcourt swing and will be raring to go again in the WTA Finals. She will be fresh off a two-month spell on the sidelines and one of the favorites to make a deep run in Riyadh this year.
Krejcikova, on the contrary, has been in patchy form lately by amassing early exits in New York, Wuhan, Beijing and Ningbo. The Czech recently suffered a minor back injury but has been cleared to compete next week in the WTA Finals.
The head-to-head between Swiatek and Krejcikova suggests a close encounter in group-stage matches. Both players have pushed each other to the limits in the past and have a solid record on hard courts.
It will also be interesting to see Swiatek's approach to the match considering her new partnership with coach Wim Fisette. The Pole can expect a stern challenge from Krejcikova but should be able to navigate past the Czech and churn out a formidable win in her opener.
Pick: Iga Swiatek to win in three sets.
