The reigning WTA finals champion has been in decent form lately and has produced a couple of consistent performances in the early phases of the year before her recent run of inconsistent performances. Aga began the year by winning the Shenzen Open which was followed by a second Australian Open semi-final where she lost to eventual runner-up Serena Williams.
The Pole’s good form continued as she reached consecutive semi-finals at Doha and Indian Wells which helped her rise back to World No.2. After a few disappointing performances at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and the Madrid Open, Radwanska exited the French Open in the fourth round.Radwanska did not have a very good start to her grass court season as she lost in her opening match of the Birmingham Classic to Coco Vandeweghe. After reaching the quarter-finals of Eastbourne International, Radwanska reached the fourth round of the Wimbledon where she was surprisingly defeated by Dominika Cibulkova.
After a string of disappointing performances at the Rogers Cup, Rio Olympics, Radwanska reached the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Masters where she was beaten by Simona Halep before winning the Connecticut Open by defeating Elina Svitolina in the final.
After losing to Croatian teen Ana Konjuh in the fourth round of the US Open, Radwanska made it to the semi-finals of the Toray Pan Pacific Open where she lost to eventual winner Carolina Wozniacki. This was followed by a quarter-final appearance at the Wuhan open where she was beaten by Svetlana Kuznetsova despite winning the first set.
Radwanska has 3985 points in her bag and is on track to qualify for the WTA finals in Singapore. However, she would have to put up a few convincing performances in the tournaments that are to follow to completely assure her place in Singapore.
