Novak Djokovic once expressed frustration over facing a barrage of questions about Roger Federer after their blockbuster clash at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships. The Serb resented having to repeat his sentiments about Federer in one press conference after another.

That year, Djokovic entered the grasscourt Major as the top seed and defending champion, fresh off a runner-up finish at the French Open. Having triumphed in four of the last six Grand Slams, the Serb was considered a big favorite to clinch his second Wimbledon title.

The then-World No. 1 met expectations, as he triumphed over the likes of Juan Carlos Ferrero, Radek Stepanek and Viktor Troicki to set up a highly anticipated semifinal clash against third seed Roger Federer. The Swiss, though, delivered a commanding performance, beating Novak Djokovic 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win to move just one win away from a seventh title at SW19.

Following his loss, Djokovic was asked whether Federer's remarkable legacy at Wimbledon affected his focus during the clash. However, the Serb emphasized that while he had immense respect for his rival's accomplishments, they didn't impact his mindset on the court.

"I mean, of course I do have a respect for Roger and everything he has done. Of course it goes to his credit, the history that he has. But, again, when you're on the court you don't think about it," he said.

When asked for his thoughts on Federer potentially replacing him as the World No. 1 if he clinched the title, the Serb graciously responded that it would be "well-deserved" and commended Federer for having a great year.

"Look, if he wins and becomes No.1 it's going to be well‑deserved. He's played fantastic this year. He's been so consistent. If he wins, he wins. There's nothing I can do about it. The best player will win this tournament. I'm out. Now I will cheer for my holidays in next 10 days," he said.

As the questions about Roger Federer persisted, Djokovic was asked what made the Swiss such a tough opponent. However, he chastised reporters for their relentless focus on his rival, expressing frustration over constantly having to repeat himself on the same topic.

"You really like talking about Roger? Every press conference you come up with questions about him. I have to repeat myself again. It's his mental strength and ability to always play best in important moments," he said.

Following his win over Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer was set to face the winner of the blockbuster semifinal clash between fourth seed Andy Murray and No. 5 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Given the Swiss' outstanding legacy at SW19, Djokovic deemed Federer the favorite for the title, regardless of his opponent in the final.

"Well, considering the history that he has at Wimbledon, yes, probably," he said in the same press conference.

Murray claimed a 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win over Tsonga to book his place against the Swiss legend. The Serb's prediction proved accurate, as Federer defeated Murray 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 to clinch his seventh Wimbledon title and 17th Grand Slam title overall.
