According to the official website of WTA, Yulia Putintseva's coach is Matteo Donati, a former professional tennis player from Italy. With a career-high ranking of No. 159 in singles, Donati finished finalist at the ATP Challenger event Napoli Cup in 2015. Putintseva started working with Donati, whom she knew from her junior year, at the end of the 2023 season.
During an interview with WTA, Putintseva shared how she started working with Donati. She said, "I saw on Instagram that he posted that he quit because of injuries. I knew him from juniors so I thought, let's give it a try."
Revealing more about the impact of Donati, Putintseva said in the same interview, "I'm improving each part of my game, but most importantly I'm getting more confident. I'm very happy that Matteo is there and trying to help everywhere. We stay competitive when we practice with each other."
