The top-flight of the English football league system is called the Premier League. It was founded in 1992 as the FA Premier League after the Football League First Division clubs decided to break away from the original English league that was founded in 1888.
The Premier League is the Football League with the most number of spectators in the world. The Premier League has seen 49 clubs take part so far. However, only six teams have won the league title and they are Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City.
Every year, the last 3 teams on the table are relegated to the English first division league and the top 3 teams from the first division are promoted to the Premier League.

Premier League is arguably the most entertaining league in Europe owing to its unpredictability and the unrelenting pace of the game. The 2021-22 season just proved my EPL is arguably the best league in the world. The season had a nerve wrecking finish as Manchester City and Liverpool went face to face for the title. However, it was City who secured the PL title with just a single point lead over Liverpool.
The 2020-21 Premier League season was a tumultuous one due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Liverpool entered the season as defending champions, but the Reds capitulated dramatically after topping the table on Christmas Day. Jurgen Klopp's side suffered several injuries to key players and were unable to turn around a series of underwhelming results that saw them lose six home league games in a row for the first time in their history.
Manchester City, on the other hand, started the season slowly but picked up form as the games progressed. The Cityzens comfortably sealed their third league title in four seasons earlier in May, as Pep Guardiola masterminded his side to domestic glory after losing out to Liverpool last season.
Sheffield United's horrid league campaign ended in relegation, while Fulham and West Bromwich Albion are also set to drop down to the Championship next season.
