Bedoya discusses his gun violence protest in MLS match
Two days on from mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas, Bedoya ran to a microphone at the side of the pitch and said: "Congress, do something now. End gun violence," after opening the scoring in the third minute of the match.
Bedoya, who grew up near the site of the 2018 Parkland shooting in Florida, insisted that his comments were not political, but he called for US policymakers on both sides of the spectrum to do more to control gun violence.
The MLS decided on Monday that Bedoya would not be punished for his act, and later that day the 32-year-old was named the league's 'player of the week'.
