Nicholas Chavez stepped into the role of Spencer Cassadine in 2021. The character has been played by various actors since its debut. Spencer was born on-screen on February 20, 2006, to Prince Nikolas Cassadine and his late mistress/fiancée, Courtney Matthews. His storyline mostly revolved around inheritance battles, romantic entanglements, and family drama.

When Chavez began playing the role, the character had to deal with his father's manipulative behavior and his grandmother's complexion. Furthermore, the return of his ex-girlfriend Esme Prince created turmoil, affecting his relationship with his girlfriend Trina Robinson.

As of January 2024, Spencer was last seen with his ex-girlfriend Esme Prince, and they were presumed dead after falling off a cruise ship. Later, on May 4, 2024, Nicholas confirmed his exit from the show via a tweet. He wrote:

"I’m so appreciative of the opportunity that GH gave me, and I wouldn’t be as busy as I am professionally if it weren’t for the talented producers, writers, directors and fellow actors."
