Taylor Hayes was seen offering to drink with Ridge Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful recently after the latter was devastated about Brooke's decision to step into the CEO's chair. This came in the wake of a rift between Ridge and Brooke as Ridge piled all the blame for his company's takeover on Hope while a displeased Brooke stood in support of her daughter's dignity.
While Brooke, Taylor, and Ridge's love triangle is not new on the long-running CBS daily soap, airing since March 1987, the current context is new. The soap's storyline, which pivots on the Forrester family's haute couture company, recently saw a hostile takeover through an internal coup.
The situation had a ripple effect as Eric, Ridge, and Steffy quit Forrester Creations and Brooke accepted the role of the CEO of the company.
To add to the problems, a crestfallen Ridge fell into the waiting arms of his former wife, Taylor Hayes, while Brooke schemed to give the company back to Ridge. In this context, fans disliked Ridge's irresponsible behavior in moving on to Taylor and sharing a drink with her. One fan, named Debbie Kelly, blamed the writers for forgetting Taylor's alcoholic history by stating:
"Because writers forget past history and expect viewers to as well"
Debbie was replying to a post by Savannah Bowman on the soap's Facebook fan page, where Savannah questioned Ridge's sensibility in offering Taylor alcohol despite her history as an alcoholic.
Many viewers have agreed with Kelly criticizing the writers for this discrepancy.
Some viewers thought the writers may not remember the past storylines.
A few fans discussed that Taylor was not an alcoholic like Brooke, while some others accused Ridge.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Which current plot dynamics showed Ridge and Taylor drinking?
The soap's Friday episode, dated December 20, 2024, saw Ridge feeling devastated after learning about Brooke's decision to resume as CEO, from the company's press release. After Eric left for a meeting and Steffy went home, Taylor tried to comfort Ridge. However, when she planned to leave, Ridge bid her an abrupt goodbye and went to his room with a bottle of alcohol.
Soon, Taylor changed her mind and entered Ridge's bedroom with two glasses. Their conversations led to intimacy while Brooke called Ridge from outside the house. The next episode found Ridge offering Taylor a drink and pouring her a glass. However, he spills it while kissing her and she could not have it.
While Brooke found Ridge and Taylor in questionable circumstances and realized the truth, she vowed to be back with Ridge by next Christmas. She even sent him Christmas wishes on the eve of the festival. She told her sister, Katie about Ridge's romantic escapade while promising to not give up on him.
While many characters on the CBS soap have battled alcoholism including Hope Logan and Steffy Forrester, the central three characters of Ridge, Brooke, and Taylor have been alcoholic for limited periods. Taylor drove her car into Darla Forrester and killed her in 2006.
The Bold and the Beautiful: What is the likely future for Ridge, Taylor, and Brooke?
As the Christmas Eve episode of the soap shows, Brooke Logan is hurt by Ridge's betrayal but resolves to get him back soon. However, she may find it tough to accept Ridge's infidelity if Steffy gloats that her parents are back together as a couple.
Since her plan to become the CEO and eventually hand over the company to Ridge, Brooke may not feel justified in going ahead with this magnanimous act. She may keep the chair while seeking out a new romance to annoy Ridge. Whether Ridge comes to his senses before the rift of misunderstanding deepens, remains to be seen.
Stay tuned to CBS every weekday to catch the latest drama on Ridge, Taylor, and Brooke's triangle in The Bold and the Beautiful's upcoming episodes.
