Beyond the Gates new extended trailer sees Dupree family navigate love, betrayal, and high-stakes drama in Maryland

CBS's Beyond the Gates has come out with an extended preview trailer to heighten the viewers' curiosity about the influential Dupree family at the center of the soap. Slated to arrive on CBS and Paramount+ on February 24, 2025, the daily soap is meant to offer a glimpse into the life of the rich Black community. The extended trailer offers more information on the community's privileges and problems.

Produced by CBS Studios in collaboration with NAACP and Procter & Gamble Studios, Beyond the Gates is created by Michele Val Jean, and co-written by Robert Guza Jr. alongside Michele. The cast includes famous actors including Tamara Tunie, Clifton Davis, Karla Mosley, Daphnee Duplaix, Timon Kyle Durrett, Mike Manning, and many more.

The setting for the storyline is Maryland, a suburban area outside Washington DC. The premise of the plot showcases the messy lives of the rich, colored Americans and not the ghettoized and downtrodden, as told by Val Jean to Entertainment Weekly.

Beyond the Gates: What does the extended trailer present?

CBS released the first teaser for Beyond the Gates on December 16, 2024, which gave the first look at the central cast and a quick peek into the plot. However, the extended preview released on January 25, 2025, chalks out more of the high-stakes theatrics involved in the storyline. The show will involve romance, family honor, betrayal, and revenge, as seen in the trailer.

On one hand, the extent of the Dupree family's status in society is revealed by the gold-washed customized table sign in a restaurant that says, "Reserved for the Duprees." On the other hand, is the younger daughter Dani Dupree, played by Karla Mosley, smashing a coffee mug to pieces in anger, as her friend Vanessa McBride remarks on an invitation for coffee.

The family matriarch, Anita Dupree, played by Tamara Tunie, holds the family together through family pride and wisdom. This is shown through various snippets in the trailer. The second scene finds Anita inquiring Nicole about Dani. This conversation tells the viewer that Dani is feeling betrayed by Bill's affair with Hayley.

In another scene, Anita reminds Dani that the latter is a "Dupree woman" and must find her inner strength. Later, in a restaurant, Anita tells the Duprees gathered around her how proud she is of them and her heart warms to see her family.

Going by the trailer, Hayley Lawson and Bill Hamilton's affair has enraged Bill's wife, Dani Dupree. She vents her frustration violently by throwing things. However, later she claims she would become healthy after making the cheaters pay.

However, in another scene, when the couple face off, Dani challenges Bill that he cannot hurt her more, to which his cold response is, "Don't try me." In a later shot, Dani is seen slapping Hayley.

What other issues does Beyond the Gates preview show?

The clothes, the property, and the lifestyle showcased in the preview show a luxurious life for the Dupree family, that lives in Fairmont Crest, a gated community just beyond DC. Anita and her husband, Vernon, played by Clifton Davis, are seen to have a good rapport. Vernon seems to admire and support his wife. They discuss their problems and agree to protect the family and make that a priority.

In another scene, Bill Hamilton, played by Timon Durrett, asks Vernon for a favor reminding him how the latter and his family members had asked for numerous favors in the past.

The trailer is action-packed with arguments and fights. It also includes a road accident, some passionate scenes of intimacy, a wedding, a modeling shoot, and someone at gunpoint.
