Days of Our Lives spoilers: Can fake Abigail convince Chad to marry her?

Days of Our Lives is in the midst of a stolen identity storyline as AnnaLynn McCord stepped into the role of a fake "Abigail" on the soap. Spoilers for the October 10 episode indicate that the character might try to make a move on Chad to convince him to marry her.

This storyline comes after Clyde, who's the mastermind of this plan, wants "Abigail" to convince Chad that she's his wife risen from the dead. Clyde is eyeing the DiMera fortune and wants to use this matrimony to gain unrestricted access to it through "Abigail".

Until now, the fake Abigail has only had to fake a few memories to keep Chad at bay. However, if the two are to be married it remains to be seen how she keeps up this ruse for long.

What is the current storyline with Abigail on Days of Our Lives?

"Abigail" returned to Salem as a character on Days of Our Lives in a rather unique way. She was found with plastic surgery and amnesia, raising doubt about whether she could be the original Abigail resurrected from the dead. However, a DNA test seemed to confirm that the mystery woman truly was Abigail.

After re-entering Salem, "Abigail" had a bit of trouble navigating equations because of her memory loss. That was especially true for her husband Chad, whom she had no memory of. Chad tried to spend as much time possible with her in hopes of eventually jogging her memory so the family could be reunited.

However, the audience slowly realised that something was fishy. "Abigail" was seen making phone calls to unseen people and discussing how her plan was going. That remained in the dark until her correspondents were revealed to be Clyde and Mark. The two were using "Abigail" to sow a rift into the DiMera family and ultimately steal their inheritance as revenge.

Curiously, even though she's a part of the plan, "Abigail" seems guilty and conflicted about having to fool Chad.

As her supposed husband shows her family pictures and recounts their love, "Abigail" might even have a soft spot for Chad now, based on how she reacts to him. Meanwhile, Chad is over the moon to have his wife back and even wants to inform his children that their mother is actually alive.

In spoilers for this week, "Abigail" and Chad jet off on a getaway to Paris, where they share a romantic moment. This might be the key that "Abigail" needs to get Chad to finally marry her. It remains to be seen whether her lingering feelings for him ends up being a hindrance to the plan.

In another risky space for "Abigail", Steve Johnson seems to be very suspicious of her. He even spoke to his wife Kayla about how he thought this new mystery person might not actually be Abigail.

Determined to prove his point, Steve asked Kayla to administer a DNA test, but she refused. Undeterred, Steve now wants to put up his own DNA test, just to reconfirm who Abigail is. Steve's suspicion might also be a factor that interferes with "Abigail" and her plot to marry Chad.
