As Days of Our Lives kicks off the new year this week, the episode for Tuesday, December 31, promises plenty of drama with a twist. Spoilers indicate that Rafe Hernandez will find himself in an unexpected situation when he comes face to face with his own double, Arnold Feniger.

Arnold Feniger is set to return to Salem as Rafe's lookalike. He is currently living in the DiMera house but ready to unleash chaos on the town in 2025. Arnold was initially introduced to the soap in 2011 due to the plotting of EJ and Stefano DiMera.
However, this time around, spoilers indicate that even EJ might not be thrilled to have Arnold around. Similarly, Rafe's encounter with his doppelgänger raises some questions about the plot ahead. It remains to be seen whether the second Rafe remains in town, and what he does with his time.

Who is Arnold Feniger on Days of Our Lives? Character's past on the soap explored
Arnold Feniger was introduced to Days of Our Lives in 2011, a small-time criminal hired by Stefano and EJ DiMera. He was a part of the DiMeras' revenge plot against Sami Brady and Rafe Hernandez. Arnold was given plastic surgery that made him look exactly like Rafe so that he could act as a double and wreak havoc on Sami and Rafe's marriage.
During this time, Rafe was hospitalized after a car accident. Stefano took this opportunity to switch Rafe for Arnold, who went home with Sami instead of her husband. Arnold, disguised as Rafe, began to mistreat Sami and her children. He would also secretly meet up with EJ and Stefano to get further instructions about their plans.
Arnold was even involved in the murder of Fay Walker. She overheard one of the conversations between Arnold and the DiMeras, so the former pushed her down the stairs at the DiMera mansion. When Fay still made it out alive, he smothered her with a pillow instead.
After tolerating Arnold as Rafe for much time, Sami broke up with him and left the house. Arnold chased her when he realized that she was heading to the Convent of the Holy Cross, where the real Rafe was also staying. However, Rafe, Sami, and Arnold finally came face-to-face despite Arnold's efforts, revealing the secret about the two Rafes once and for all.
As soon as the Salem city residents figured out that Arnold was an imposter, Sami and Rafe decided to get proof that the DiMeras were the ones behind the scheme. But, in another underhanded move, EJ managed to help Arnold fake his death. He was shipped off to the Argentinean jungle after being smuggled out of Salem, and did not make an appearance until 2024.
