Days of Our Lives viewers have been doubtful since Jack and Chad saved Abigail. Their doubts were confirmed when it was found that this Abigail was fake. At first, the viewers know that she is working with Mark and is part of the Greene family, but the truth about the motives behind her deception has now started to appear on screen.

In recent episodes of Days of Our Lives, it was shown that the fake Abigail (played by AnnaLynne McCord) received a threatening text from Clyde Weston, asking her to speed up things with Chad.

“Why haven’t you gotten Chad back down the aisle yet? You know what’s going to happen if you don’t,” the text read.

In an interview published by Soaps. She Knows on September 16, 2024, actress AnnaLynne McCord highlighted that her character “is under extenuating circumstances. She’s really not herself because she feels obligated to do whatever Clyde Weston is telling her to do.”

The fake Abigail has been going along with Clyde’s demands, pretending to be okay with them to appease him. It seems obvious that something serious is making her and Mark compelled to follow Clyde but what is it?

Days of Our Lives: Why is Clyde Weston using fake Abigail?

Clyde Weston who had previously killed Abigail on Days of Our Lives, by mistake when he wanted to stab Belle, is yet again back with his motives against Chad and DiMeras, this time by using fake Abigail to manipulate them.

As AnnaLyne McCord described, fake Abigail’s behavior toward Chad is carefully calculated.

“She’s a little more appeasing because she is playing along with what Clyde Weston is making her do,” said McCord.

Abby has been behaving differently because of the threat of Clyde and if she has to save herself from the villain, she has to follow what he says.

“She’s just trying to do what she’s supposed to do, so that the outcome that she’s afraid of with Clyde Weston doesn’t end up happening,” added McCord.

This highlights just how trapped fake Abigail feels in the situation, as she tries to deal with Clyde’s dangerous control while also manipulating Chad to marry her again. The motive of Weston is still clear, but how he can control the Greenes is yet to be discovered.

With Mark set to confront Clyde in upcoming episodes, the stakes are higher than ever, and it seems the truth will soon be fully exposed.

A recap of Abigail’s story arc on Days of Our Lives

Abigail Johanna Deveraux DiMera had a dramatic and turbulent life ever since she first appeared in 1992. She was born in the Deveraux-Horton family, and her early years were filled with health problems, family issues, and not having her father, Jack Deveraux, around.

As she got older, Abigail came back to Salem in 2011, which led to her complicated romantic relationships, especially with Chad DiMera, whom she later married. During her time in Salem, Abigail encountered many difficulties, such as the tragic death of her father and her messed up love life.

Her relationship with Chad was frequently strained, initially due to her affair with EJ DiMera and later because of her internal conflicts, like her struggle with dissociative identity disorder (DID).

This mental health issue led to the emergence of her alternate personalities, Gabby and Dr. Laura, which created turmoil in her life and significantly affected her relationships with Chad and Stefan DiMera.

Abigail’s journey on Days of Our Lives came to an end in July 2022, when Clyde Weston killed her by mistake but then Chad found the evidence that proved that she was alive. However, the confusion about the revival of Abby on the show is yet to be sorted out.
