Drew Caine, played by Cameron Mathison, has been creating waves with his questionable romance with Willow Corinthos on General Hospital. His romance started in July 2024 and developed into a disgraceful relationship with his intimacy with Willow after Sam McCall's death.
While the wronged Michael Corinthos opted to divorce his wife, he fell victim to a fire accident that left him incapacitated to take care of his children. On his behalf, Carly got Michael's children to the Quartermaine mansion. However, Drew advised Willow to hold out on Michael's treatment, using her position as his healthcare proxy to bargain with Carly and get back her children.
When Tracy refused to hand over Michael's kids, Drew pushed for her arrest. Fans have been unhappy with Drew for a while, and current plot dynamics have them taking to social media to express their annoyance. One viewer, going by the name Steph Raposo, posted on the soap's Facebook fan page:

General Hospital: What did Drew do to attract fan resentment?
To start with, Drew Caine/Quartermaine pulled Willow Corinthos into an extramarital affair, which began with a kiss on July 4, 2024. While she tried to resist the temptation, he stalked her and justified their actions. To top it off, he got intimate with her in the children's nursery when the whole of Port Charles was grieving Sam McCall's demise.
Unfortunately, their act was recorded in the nanny cam, which Michael Corinthos checked periodically. He tried to keep the event under wraps despite being hurt by his wife's betrayal. However, Tracy Quartermaine inadvertently let the recording run on the family television in front of a roomful of people.
With the affair spilling out of the closet, Michael filed for divorce and sole custody of the children. However, as mentioned, he sustained burns from an explosion in Sonny Corinthos's penthouse, leaving him unavailable for the court proceedings. Michael's mother, Carly Spencer-Corinthos, and attorney, Diane Miller, moved the courts and got the children to Quartermaine mansion.
When Willow Corinthos refused to stay away from her kids, Drew asked her to use her position as Michael's wife as leverage since the divorce had not come through. He suggested she bargain with Carly and Sonny to get back her children in return for Michael's visitations since Willow was Michael's healthcare proxy.
While Willow, Nina, Carly, and Sonny agreed, Tracy Quartermaine refused to comply and handed over the children. Drew pushed attorney Martin Grey to get court orders to take the children away from Q mansion. When Tracy resisted, Drew had her arrested.
General Hospital: Where does Drew's story arc stand currently?
On the Tuesday, January 21 episode of General Hospital, Drew was seen trying to convince Anna Devane to lock up Tracy. He also burst into the room where Tracy was made to sit and accused her of stealing the children.
He was later seen at the chapel where Willow was lighting a candle for prayers. When he learned that Willow had agreed to go ahead with Michael's treatments, he insisted Carly and Sonny had persuaded her to do so. While she assured him that Michael's parents were not posing a problem but Tracy was, he informed a surprised Willow that he got Tracy arrested.
Currently, Drew seems to be a bigger villain than Willow, who seems to have found her heart after her chat with Chase. In the January 16 episode, Chase asked Willow to do what was best for the children after Nina accused her of following Drew's lead.
The upcoming storyline may find Willow putting her children's welfare above Drew, which the latter may resent. Whether that would create a rift between Drew and Willow as the Congressman moves to DC remains to be seen.
