"‘Drew is a narcissist”—General Hospital fans lash out at Drew’s character as his actions continue to spark outrage

Port Charles is going through lot of tragedy lately with Michael's burn accident on General Hospital being the latest. The soap's storyline saw Michael Corinthos being the victim of an explosion in his adoptive father's penthouse that turned out to be planted to take out Sonny. This happened in the wake of Michael's decision to divorce his wife Willow after her affair with Drew Caine/Quartermaine got exposed.

To add to the drama, Michael was shown engulfed in a fire at while Willow and Drew were engaged in intimacy at the same time in DC. Recent episodes found Willow and Drew back in town after learning about Michael's accident. While Drew went to meet a grieving Carly at the chapel, he ended up blaming the mother for her son's predicament.

Fans are unhappy about the Drew-Willow story arc with Drew's latest action being severely criticized. One viewer commented the following on social media:

General Hospital: Which storyline invited renewed fan wrath against Drew Caine?

As mentioned before, Drew Caine/Quartermaine has been involved in an affair with Willow Corinthos. While Willow's husband, Michael, tried to keep the affair under wraps and work on his marriage, the relationship became public due to Tracy Quartermaine's mistake. In this light, Michael decided to file for divorce and ask for sole custody of the children.

The episode on Monday, January 6, 2025, saw Michael Corinthos visiting Sonny's penthouse to inform him about his decisions. After talking to Sonny, Michael asked to leave since Jason Morgan arrived to discuss business with the mob boss. However, Sonny and Jason stepped out in the hall to discuss while Michael stayed back in Sonny's penthouse.

Michael heard a ticking sound which was followed by an explosion that set the penthouse on fire. Soon Michael was swallowed by the fire while Jason stopped Sonny to rush to his son. Jason asked Sonny to call 911 and ran in to wrap the burning Michael with a rug. After dowsing the fire, Michael was admitted to the hospital.

Soon other residents of Port Charles came to know about the accident and arrived at the hospital. While Nina called Willow and Drew from DC, Willow landed at the facility.

On the other hand, Drew went to the chapel where Carly Spencer-Corinthos was praying for her son's recovery. However, instead of supporting Carly through her pain, Drew tried to blame her for Michael's situation. In return, Carly pointed out his selfish attitude saying she could see his true nature.

What may happen to Drew's future story arc?

As fans already know, Drew Caine/Quartermaine has been elected a Congressman and is slated to relocate to DC. He may need to leave his daughter, Scout, behind at the Quartermaine mansion, as she would refuse to go with him.

Based on their affair, Willow Corinthos wanted to move in with him, particularly after Michael served her with the divorce papers. She had taken Wiley with her during her last visit which may not happen in the future as the children may be removed from her custody. Moreover, she may want to stay back in town till Michael recovers from his burn injuries.

As such, Drew would need to stay in DC alone. He may return to town to meet Willow and Scout. Whether his and Willow's romance can face the demands of a long distance remains to be seen.
