The Young and the Restless has seen rumors of cast departures, including that of Conner Floyd, who plays Chance Chancellor. On May 15th, chatter around his status intensified as he wasn't listed in the closing credits of that day's episode. However, in the days since no announcement of his departure was made.
This has led news outlets to conclude that Conner Floyd was simply demoted to a recurring character, and the claim that he's leaving The Young and the Restless is false.
Conner Floyd first stepped into the role of Chance Chancellor in The Young and the Restless November 2021. Prior to this, Chance had been played as an infant by the twins Michael and Jonathan Hall in 1988, Andrew and Clark Rogers in the same year, Chucky and Kenny Gravano from 1988 to 1989, and Scott and Shawn Markley from 1991 to 1993. The final child actors to play him would be Alex D. Linz, Nicholas Pappone, and Penn Badgley.
As an adult, Chance Chancellor was portrayed by John Driscoll and Donny Boaz before the role went to Conner Floyd.
Conner Floyd has not been confirmed to leave The Young and the Restless
Despite his reduced role in recent months, there has been no official announcement that Conner Floyd will be leaving The Young and the Restless. Therefore, it's quite likely that Chance Chancellor will simply be taking a step back in the show for a bit while other character storylines take precedence.
Recently, Chance resigned from his position at the Genoa City Police Department after being shot in the line of duty, and decided to work a corporate job at Chancellor-Winters when Jill Abbott offered him a position.
Chance's shooting was preceded by a split from Abby Newman when she cheated on him with Devon. Following his divorce from Abby, Chance began to date Sharon Newman. Chance grew closer to Summer Newman while investigating the supposed death of Phyllis. Summer also visited him in the hospital after he got shot.
For a while, a love triangle developed between Chance, Summer and Sharon, and Chance's indecisiveness and Summer's commitment issues prevented a clear resolution from coming about. This changed when Chance invited Sharon to a concert, only for her to decline, causing him to go with Summer and get closer to her instead. Sharon eventually broke up with Chance after having a moment of clarity about her life in a dream.
Recently, Summer Newman has also been engaged in a custody battle over Harrison Abbott against his biological father, Kyle Abbott. Summer might be motivated to take things further with Chance in order to gain an advantage in the custody case, especially since Kyle has made the problematic decision of hiring Claire Grace, who was recently in a mental institution, as Harrison's nanny.
Needless to say, pushing through a marriage with Chance and presenting herself and him as a stable, healthy couple would give her an advantage when fighting over Harrison's custody.
Thanks to Chance Chancellor's reduced screen time as of late, fans have speculated that Conner Floyd may be leaving the soap. However, there has been no official confirmation of this matter. The Young and the Restless airs on CBS.
