General Hospital originated in 1963 and has become one of the most popular soaps on American television. The show is supported by its sprawling and diverse cast, with many characters weaving in and out of the story.

For instance, actress Kate Mansi has recently been in the spotlight on the soap for her role as Kristina. 1) Maurice Benard as Sonny Corinthos
Sonny Corinthos Jr. was introduced on the soap in 1993 and has been played by Maurice Bernard since the introduction, with a brief stint by Joshua Benard in 2018. Sonny is a mob boss in Port Charles, often getting involved in dangerous missions.
The character struggles with depression and mania, which impacts his storyline. He has had two super couple pairings during his storyline, with Brenda Barrett and Carly Benson. Sonny is the father of Dante, Morgan, Kristina, Lila, Avery, and Donna.

2) Steve Burton as Jason Morgan
The role of Jason Morgan was introduced on the soap in 1981 as a child played by Quinn Carlson and Bryan Beck. Actor Steve Burton stepped into the role in 1991 and has been known to be the most popular face that played the character. However, Jason has also been portrayed by Carmel Fainbaum, Billy Miller, and Paul Chirico over the years.
Jason is the son of Alan Quartermaine and Susan Moore. Monica Quartermaine is his adoptive mother. The character had many ambitions growing up but eventually became a part of the Corinthos crime family. A major plot point of Jason's initial story was his massive head injury that resulted in memory loss.
The character is known for his relationships with people like Brenda Barrett, Courtney Matthews, Elizabeth Webber, Robin Scorpio, and Sam McCall. He has two sons named Jake and Danny.

3) Maura West as Ava Jerome
Ava Jerome was introduced on General Hospital in 2013 and has been played by Maura West since then. She has been an art dealer and a part of the Jerome mob family in her storyline. Ava was married to Nikolas Cassadine for three years till 2023.
In the current storyline, Ava was arrested for pushing Kristina out of her hotel room window. Before this, she was embroiled in a legal case against Sonny, who is essentially her arch-nemesis. Ava has been known to be unpredictable, with many grey personality traits.

4) Laura Wright as Carly Spencer
Carly Spencer debuted on the soap in 1996 as the daughter of John Durant and Bobbie Spencer after the two had a one-night stand. The character was initially played by actress Sarah Brown in 2001 and then by Tamara Braun till 2005. Jennifer Bransford also made a brief appearance as the character, but Laura Wright has played Carly the longest till now.
Carly is known for being very impulsive but also very loyal. Her current storyline involves some trouble with the FBI as she tries to protect Jason. She has been in relationships with Jason and Sonny in the soap.

5) Kate Mansi as Kristina Davis
Kristina Davis was introduced to the soap as an infant born off-screen. She is the daughter of Sonny Corinthos and Alexis Davis. The baby twins Kara and Shelby Hoffmann portrayed the character till 2003. Young Kristina was played by Kali Rodriguez and the teenage version of the character was given to Lindsey Morgan in 2012.
Then, in 2023, actress Kate Mansi joined the cast as a new version of Kristina. She is currently playing the role on the soap. Kristina's present storyline involves being a surrogate mother to TJ and Molly's child. She was also involved in a near-fatal accident where Ava pushed her out of a window, and she fell into the Metro Court pool below.
The upcoming storyline might also involve Kristina in a custody battle with Molly and TJ since she does not want to give up the baby. Kristina is currently in a relationship with Blaze on the show.
