Nicholas Alexander Chavez is a General Hospital alum who has launched his way into fame in the film and television industry. The actor recently exited his role as Spencer Cassadine on the soap, but his fans noticed he was quick to be cast in many other projects.
Chavez has starred in two highly viewed television shows since his exit. These are Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story released on Netflix, and Grotesquerie, which was released on FX. The actor has received much appreciation for his portrayal of Lyle Menendez in the former series.
He discussed his roles in an interview for People on September 25, 2024. He mentioned the Menendez series and showrunner Ryan Murphy in the interview, saying:
"It’s been an absolute dream come true, and it fills my heart in a way that I can’t even describe that Ryan [Murphy] saw so much promise in me and decided to give me this shot.”
What are Nicholas Alexander Chavez's prominent roles on and after General Hospital?
Nicholas Alexander Chavez played the role of Spencer Cassadine on General Hospital from 2021 to 2024. The character is the son of Nikolas Cassadine and Courtney Matthews. Spencer gained fame for his relationship with his love interest, Trina Robinson, during the course of the soap.
However, Chavez marked an end to his role in the Cassadine family in January 2024 when his character was presumed dead onscreen. Spencer was on a romantic trip to Paris with his girlfriend Trina when tragedy struck the couple. Spencer was drugged by one of his ex-girlfriends Esme Prince.
Both Spencer and Esme fell overboard from a boat into the Seine River and were presumed to be dead since they were never found again. Many hope that Cassadine's heir might be alive since daytime soaps often use presumed deaths as plot points to bring fan-favourite characters back. However, the showrunners or cast members have offered no confirmation about the fact yet.
After exiting the role of Spencer Cassadine on General Hospital, Chavez has now prominently featured as Lyle Menendez on Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story on Netflix. In the reenactment of the real-life Menendez case, the actor played the role of someone who killed his parents with his brother. The series premiered on September 19, 2024.
On September 25, 2024, Chavez's next series, Grotesquerie, was released on FX. The actor plays the role of a priest caught in a horror tale of murder and secrets in the storyline. During his People interview, Chavez admitted that he made a lot of effort for both his projects, saying:
“Trying to mentally prepare as best as I could in my head for this, but I don’t think anything could really prepare you for the reality of this ... Honestly, just a dream come true.”
Audiences can watch General Hospital airing on the ABC Channel. New episodes of the soap are released on all weekdays.
