General Hospital weekly recap (September 2 to 6, 2024): Cates' murder continues to cause a stir in Port Charles

General Hospital explored the aftermath of Cates' murder in the first week of September. The episodes from September 2 to September 6 focused on the suspicion shifting from one person to another, as alliances were formed.

Carly and Jason naturally helped Sonny out with an alibi, while Michael also did the same. The Quartermaine family discussed the murder too, with Tracy pitching in her opinions about Sonny.

On the other hand, Alexis found a gun in Kristina's bag and disposed of it in a river to protect her daughter. However, Ric and Liz managed to catch her in the act from afar, something that Alexis might pay for later.

The soap did not release a new episode, due to the Labour Day holiday. Instead, a rerun of the episode on August 1, 2024, was aired. This was the storyline where a pregnant Kristina fell into the Metro Court Pool from the window in Ava's room.

Tuesday, September 3 - Got a Secret

The episode started with a bang as Sonny shot Jagger, and explained to Michael that Cates had been threatening his sister. Sonny and Carly also staged a cover story for him after this incident. Michael reported the murder to Chase, giving no hint of Sonny's involvement.

Drew and Willow agreed to keep their kiss hidden, while Ava was rescued from a hit-and-run by Jason. On the other hand, Kristina was seen mourning at her lost daughter's grave.

Wednesday, September 4 - All Reached for the Gun

Kristina was seen panicking when she could not find the gun she had taken for revenge on Cates and Ava. The audience saw that her mother Alexis had taken the gun and thrown it into the river. On a related note, Sonny discovered that one of his guns was missing.

Unable to keep his promise, Drew told Curtis about kissing Willow. Curtis advised Drew to end things if he was feeling guilty. Meanwhile, Jordan asked Brick to help him identify Isaiah.

The Quartermaine Mansion was abuzz with Jagger's death, as they discussed it in their living room. Tracy, Lois, Brook Lynn, and Olivia had a conversation about the same, straying away to lighter topics eventually.

Carly put her foot down with Sonny and told him that she wouldn't help him with his alibi anymore. However, she did agree to try to keep him out of prison, if only for the sake of their daughter. Meanwhile, Joss found out that Carly was staying over at Sonny's place, leaving him increasingly upset.

In the hospital, TJ and Elizabeth tried to take care of an unconscious Isaiah. But trouble started to brew as an undercover agent sent by Sidwell tried to take Isaiah out for good.

Friday, September 6 - Call the Cops?

Lois received a speech lesson from her new tutor Robin, much to the surprise of everyone in the Quartermaine family. Tracy specifically praised Robin's work and asked her to remain in touch.

At the hospital, Sidwell's agent lurked near Isaiah as agents surrounded him. Dante arrived with a cracked phone that he discovered at the crime scene, hoping that it would provide some insight into the investigation. Meanwhile, Ric and Elizabeth discussed seeing Alexis throw the gun into the river. They debated about whether or not to turn her over to the police.

The police, however, played a role elsewhere in the episode. Anna and a team of detectives turned up for a search at Sonny's place.
