In General Hospital, Dex Heller has passed away after a successful surgery, raising doubts about a foul play. In the December 13 episode, Joss and Anna visit the hospital to meet Dex when they find the medical staff trying to resuscitate him. Soon Dr. Gannon informs Joss about Dex's death, shocking the two women.
Longtime General Hospital fans know, the soap often presents unexpected twists and mysteries to be unravelled later in the storyline. The long-running ABC daily soap, which revolves around the titular hospital in the fictional town of Port Charles, also includes mobsters and law enforcers in the storyline.
While the deceased Dex was a rookie officer with PCPD, his girlfriend, Josslyn Jacks, is the stepdaughter of mobster Sonny Corinthos. On the other hand, Anna Devane is Dex's boss and the police commissioner in charge of Dex's attack case. As Joss yearns to know the truth behind Dex's death, Anna wants to find out why Dex was stabbed which eventually ended in his unnatural death.
General Hospital: Anna and Joss find Dex's death unbelievable
In the December 13 episode of the General Hospital, Dex Heller dies due to a cardiac arrest. As Dr. Gannon gives the sad news to Joss, both she and Anna Devane are perplexed at the unexpected turn of events.
Later, in December 16 episode, Josslyn Jacks is devastated and grieving. She confides in Jason Morgan that she wants to get to the bottom of the mystery of Dex's death despite a successful surgery.
The audience is privy to Joss and Dex's old romantic conversation when the lovebirds planned to take a relaxed vacation together. At the time, Dex looked and felt healthy and was on his journey to recovery.
Back at the hospital, the staff, particularly head nurse Elizabeth Webber and Dr. Portia Robinson, are baffled by Dex's inexplicable death which is similar to Sam McCall's. As Portia informed Liz, there's going to be an investigation about the two deaths.
While speaking to Felicia and Mac Scorpio, Anna Devane expresses regret about encouraging Dex to join the police force. Felicia assures Anna that Dex was proud to be an officer at PCPD. Anna, who would likely look into the investigation of Dex's stabbing, voices her concerns that Dex was stabbed during the day making him the intended target.
Anna is intrigued by the fact that the assailant wanted to single out Dex. She now wants to know everything that happened on the day Dex was stabbed. As such, she asks Felicia to describe the events as they occurred. While Felicia shares the details as much as she remembers, she also suggests that there is something that she finds odd. However, she is unable to put her finger on it.
General Hospital: Dex's stabbing and death investigation might lead to the real culprit
On one hand, the hospital is conducting an inquiry into Sam McCall and Dex's deaths, as Monday's General Hospital episode revealed. Both the deaths are post-operative and unexpected.
While Sam's heart arrest happened due to Digitalis in her blood, Dex's toxicology report is awaited in the upcoming episodes. As the hospital looks into the surveillance camera footage, they are likely to find discrepancies and unexpected movements.
On the other hand, Anna Devane and the Port Charles Police Department will probe and inspect all evidence surrounding Dex's daytime stabbing near Rice Plaza. Both the hospital and police investigations are expected to find some common threads leading to the main culprit.
As of now, ex-mobster Cyrus Renault seems to be the assailant, since he killed Sam with a dose of Digitalis in her IV bag. Rookie cop Dex Heller, has questioned Cyrus about his presence at the hospital during Halloween. Dex would have been able to put the time of Cyrus's presence with Sam's death and reach the truth. As such, Cyrus has likely silenced the cop before he could endanger him.
While the mystery of Dex's death is yet to be unravelled, Anna and Joss would dig into it till they get answers. Stay tuned to ABC to catch the upcoming episodes as Dex's murder is investigated on General Hospital.
