Billy Miller on the ABC soap opera General Hospital was a series regular, he played the roles of Jason Morgan and Drew Cain between 2014 and 2019. The actor was professionally active until the last few days of his life which ended on September 15, 2023. It has been a year since the actor died by suicide.

Within a few days of the sad demise of the General Hospital star at the age of 43 years, his mother Patricia Miller while talking to Soap Opera Digest confirmed the cause of his death. The actor had been battling Bipolar disorder for quite a long and ultimately lost his life to it as he shot himself.

“He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life,” said Patricia.

Patricia also that the other rumored reasons for his death that were swirling back then were all fake. She also expressed her gratitude to everybody, who has been sharing their condolences and love during the hard time.

“We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support,” she further added.

General Hospital: Who was Billy Miller?

William John Miller II, also known as Billy Miller was an American actor born on September 17, 1979, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States and he grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Miller went to Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas, and then graduated from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, where he was one among the twenty students in the intensive Production Sequence of the film department.

Billy Miller spent five years as a patient at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children during his childhood and later on he also supported the organization as he grew up.

The General Hospital actor was also known for his roles as Richie Novak a series regular in the AMC soap opera All My Children from 2007-2008, Billy Abbott in the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless from 2008 to 2014, and Alex Dunn in Truth Be Told from 2019 to 2020.

Billy Miller has won three Daytime Emmy Awards for his role in The Young and the Restless under the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2010, 2013, and 2014.

The actor shot himself on September 15, 2023, and according to the autopsy report details shared by PEOPLE the dead body of the actor was found in his bathtub “with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.”

The report also stated that “a revolver chambered for .410 shotgun shells” was found in the right hand of the actor and multiple letters indicating suicidal intent were found. It also mentioned that Billy was intoxicated with alcohol and cocaine at the time of his death with a blood alcohol level of 0.08.

After hearing about the demise of the General Hospital star, Frank Valentini, the executive producer of the show tweeted on his X handle, sharing his condolences on the tragic loss.

"I am devastated to hear news of the incredibly talented Billy Miller’s passing. On behalf of the entire @GeneralHospital family, our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time."
