The negative character of Deacon Sharpe on The Bold and the Beautiful is portrayed by American actor Sean Kanan. He played the same character on CBS's other daily soap, The Young and the Restless. His other famous soap opera character was the alcoholic A. J. Quartermaine on General Hospital between 1993 and 1997 and again from 2012 to 2014.
Kanan's wide television experience includes many other popular shows besides soap operas such as The Outsiders, Sunset Beach, Perry Mason, Lois & Clark, Hell's Kitchen, and Cobra Kai. He has also had guest appearances in other series. Kanan created Studio City in 2019 and acted in its pilot episode. The digital drama series went on to win a Daytime Emmy Award while Kanan won the Independent Series Award as the lead actor.

Deacon Sharpe is a villain who moved between The Bold and the Beautiful and its sister soap. He arrived on B&B in 2000 when Rick Forrester got him to sign away his parental rights on little Eric. However, Deacon had a change of heart and asked for Eric's custody from his adoptive mother, Amber Moore.
After pursuing Amber for some time, he eloped and married Bridget Forrester. He ignored Bridget's family's physical revenge. However, his most dishonorable relationship was with Bridget's mother, Brooke Logan. This resulted in Hope Logan's birth. He first wrote off parental rights for Hope to Nick Marone and later to Ridge Forrester.
Deacon moved to The Young and the Restless for about three years and was missing from B&B. He arrived in LA again in 2014 and collaborated with Quinn Fuller to bring Hope and Wyatt Spencer together. Inadvertently causing Hope's miscarriage, Quinn wanted to jump off the building in remorse. However, Deacon saved her.

While Deacon's romance with Quinn took a serious turn, Deacon cheated on her with Brooke pretending to attend AA meetings. After several disastrous events involving Quinn, Wyatt, and an amnesiac Liam, Deacon admitted to shooting Quinn multiple times. He was arrested and imprisoned.

In 2021, a freshly released Deacon arrived on The Bold and the Beautiful and met Sheila Carter. Hope wrote to him while in prison and supported his marriage with Sheila. Currently, Deacon is running the pizzeria, Il Giardino, with his wife Sheila and has resumed his friendship with Brooke Logan.
