Hope Williams (later Brady) was born in December 1974 on the show Days of Our Lives, and her birth was followed shortly by her mother Addie saving her from a fatal car accident. Addie, however, lost her life in the process, and Hope was raised by her grandparents Tom and Alice Horton. The character was sent off to boarding school in 1982 and returned a year later.

Hope fell for Bo Brady after her return and the two married each other in 1985 after overcoming many obstacles. Hope miscarried her first pregnancy but then gave birth to a son named Shawn-Douglas in 1987. The family of three left Salem for a vacation and to raise Shawn.

They returned in 1990, but Hope was soon kidnapped by the villain Ernesto Toscano and presumed dead. Four years later, John Black found an amnesiac woman at Stefano DiMera's house, who called herself "Gina" but turned out to be Hope. However, since Bo had got into another relationship by then the couple did not reunite.

Hope's next major storyline was in 2003 when the Salem Staler murders came to light. Many of Hope's loved ones disappeared and were presumed dead so she decided to look for them and tracked down Melaswen Island. A while after this, Bo and Hope also reconciled for the sake of their children Zack and Ciara Brady. Though the marriage suffered a bit after Bo's ex Carly Manning came into the picture, the two affirmed their love by renewing their marriage in 2011.

Later, Bo and Hope got the news that he was suffering from an inoperable brain tumour. They spent as much time together as they could, with Bo finally passing away in Hope's arms. Hope then joined the Salem police department, getting embroiled in various scandalous cases over the years.

In 2023, Hope worked with international law enforcement on a case in Greece, where she found Bo alive but brainwashed. She tried to access his subconscious mind, but eventually led to him having an accident. Bo is now in a coma on the soap, with Hope visiting him regularly in the hospital.
