Lois Cerullo, played by Rena Sofer, was introduced on General Hospital in 1993. The character was born in 1969, the same year as Olivia Quartermaine, making her 55 years old as of writing.
Lois's character arc in General Hospital was originally defined by her romance with Ned Quartermaine, who went by the alias of Eddie Maine and performed with the band The Idle Singers. As a band manager herself, Lois grew curious about Eddie Maine and slowly developed a romance with him.
However, the relationship between Lois and Eddie in General Hospital came under strain after she learned of his deception and became entangled in the affairs of the Quartermaine family.
All about Lois Cerullo and her journey on General Hospital
Lois Cerullo was introduced to General Hospital as a band manager who grew curious about Ned Quartermaine after seeing him perform with The Idle Rich.
As the manager of The Idle Rich, Lois hired Ned, who went by the alias of Eddie Maine. She initially believed him to be a hobbyist singer who was a pharmaceutical salesman by day. Ned originally did not attempt to correct her preconceptions or reveal his ties to the Quartermaine family.
Lois and Ned would eventually get married, prompting her to move in with him in Port Charles. Lois also knew Sonny Corinthos from her time in Bensonhurst and reconnected with him. Sonny's girlfriend, Brenda Barrett, became a close friend of Lois's, and the two opened a joint recording label known as L&B Records.
Lois's relationship with Ned entered tumultuous waters with the arrival of Katherine Ball, who threatened to expose his double life unless he agreed to marry her. Unwilling to tell Lois the truth, Ned acceded to her demands, and Lois eventually discovered Ned's true identity and his marriage to Katherine while watching TV.
She crashed Ned's wedding and popped out of Katherine's wedding cake, chewing Ned out and dumping him. Ned tried to win her back, and eventually, the two reconciled and got back together. She even agreed to remarry Ned as long as their relationship had no further secrets.
Their second marriage also faced its share of challenges, such as when Lois told Ned in confidence that her old friend, Sonny Corinthos, was a mobster. Ned leaked this information to police commissioner Mac Scorpio.
However, the bigger obstacle to their relationship came from Ned Quatermaine's family. Ned's mother, Tracy Quartermaine, didn't like Lois, and she eventually sank the family business, ELQ International, and skipped town. Lois gave an ultimatum between taking over the company and being there for his unborn daughter, and Ned chose the company.
This prompted Lois to leave for Bensonhurst, where she'd give birth to Brook Lynn Quartermaine. During the 2004 run of General Hospital, Brook Lynn became a teenager and ran away, prompting Lois to return to Port Charles to find her, and after she did, she stayed in Port Charles for a while.
Shortly afterward, Ned Quartermaine's grandmother, Lila Quartermaine, passed away, and Lois attended her funeral. Lois briefly dated mobster Lorenzo Alcazar and tried to form a girl band with her daughter, hiring Sage Alcazar in the process.
Eventually, Lois left Lorenzo, and Sage wound up murdered, scuttling any plans for forming a girl band. Lois also reconciled with Ned and moved with him and Brooke Lynn to Manhattan to work in the music industry there.
As time went on, Brooke Lynn got a job at Deception Cosmetics, and after she was fired from that position in 2023, Lois returned to Port Charles to support her.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and Hulu.
