"I felt so bad for Rocco" — General Hospital fans sympathize with Lulu's son, feeling he struggles to meet his mom's expectations

ABC's General Hospital, which premiered in 1963, has been one of the longest-running American soap operas. Recently, on the show's December 23, 2024, episode, Lulu Spencer's son Rocco's character was shown having difficulty keeping up with his mother's expectations of him. Rocco is the son of Lulu Spencer and Dante Falconeri and has a half-sister called Charlotte on the show.

The December 23 episode of General Hospital showed how Lulu, who only recently came back to Port Charles, pushed her son to try to excel in his school project without paying any heed to his self-doubt and anxiety. Rocco struggled to meet his mother's expectations when Lulu got a call from Charlotte. She was shown leaving immediately to meet her, leaving Rocco alone right before Christmas.

Fans reacted to a clip shared by the official Facebook handle of the show. They felt for Rocco in those moments and took to Facebook to express their concern over Rocco's emotional well-being on General Hospital. One fan called Sharon Thompson Loomis said,

"I felt so bad for Rocco. He doesn't feel like he is enough for his mom. I can't stand Lulu!! Please don't let Ric and Alexis become a couple. I can't stand Ric either."

The episode showed how Dante Falconeri, who is the father of Rocco, empathized with his feelings of stress and did not pressure him further, unlike Lulu Spencer. Lulu left to meet Charlotte, which made him feel worse. General Hospital fans poured in their comments in support of Rocco.

Ever since Rocco was a child, Lulu pushed him toward success. She did not realize the emotional effects it had on Rocco. During these trying times, Dante supported Rocco and provided him with a safe space. When Lulu was away from Port Charles due to her coma, Dante cared for Rocco, and their bond deepened.

Rocco's character on General Hospital has always been emotionally intelligent and perceptive. His ways of expressing hurt have always been subdued, and even on the December 23 episode, after Lulu took off, he was shown sadly wishing her a Merry Christmas, looking at her while she walked away.

Esme Prince was shown trying to rebuild her life and improve her relationship with her son Ace. Curtis Ashford, who had been recovering and recuperating from a shooting, had been trying to form a better bond with his daughter Trina. At the same time, his marriage with Portia crumbled due to her secretive behavior.
