What hints at Abigail’s return to Days of Our Lives?

As of August 8, 2024, the plot on Days of Our Lives hints at the possible return of Abigail Deveraux DiMera. Chad DiMera (Abby's husband) and Jack Deveraux (Abby's father) have been investigating her death, facing many challenges and dead ends.

However, they’ve recently found evidence suggesting Abby might be alive. In an episode aired in July 2024, Jack said, "Abigail is alive," after which their search led them to an apartment in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, which has become a key location in uncovering the truth about Abigail's fate.

Jack and Chad found a mysterious woman at the apartment who met an accident due to which she suffered memory loss and had undergone several surgeries. Though the woman does not remember anything from her past, she still feels she isn’t who Clyde told her she is.

Jack and Chad were surprised when the woman revealed that Clyde had saved and cared for her, convincing her that they were out to harm her. This manipulation made Jack and Chad suspect the woman could be Abigail. They believed Clyde might be exploiting her vulnerability for his schemes. Chad also recognized a bracelet the woman wore as the one Abigail had on the night she died.

Not only this, but as the woman explained to them what happened to her, the duo realized that the timeline of her accident and the assumed death of Abigail were the same duration.

All the coincidences and their hope to believe that Abigail is alive made them think that this woman could be her, and because she had lost her memory and undergone surgeries, her face might have also changed. With this thought they both decided to take her back to Salem and continue their investigation with a new aim to find out if the woman is Abigail.

Why did Clyde Weston kill Abigail?

Clyde Weston killed Abigail in December 2022. Initially, it was speculated that he killed Abby because she learned about his illegal business and criminal activities and would have revealed his truth in front of everyone.

But the truth is that Clyde killed Abby by mistake as he was there to stab Belle, but instead, Abby arrived at the place, and Clyde stabbed her. After Abby’s death, Nicole found a diary in which Abby used to write about everything, and hence, it also had the truth about Clyde Weston.

Nicole took the diary to Chad and Jack, after which their quest to figure out Abigail's murder mystery started.
