Adam John Harrington plays John “Jagger” Cates on the ABC's soap opera General Hospital. The character was first introduced on the daytime show between 1992 and 1994 and in the fall of 1995. Adam J. Harrington while posting on September 2, 2024, on his X handle confirmed his exit from General Hospital after his character was shown shot by Sonny Corinthos in the episode aired on August 30, 2024. The actor first posted while thanking the makers and appreciating his colleagues.
“Well @GeneralHospital it was a BLAST, literally!” wrote Harrington.
“To @valentinifrank, producers and writers. Thank you for the SHOT at joining your world. I loved it. To the phenomenal cast and crew. It was an honor to witness the CALIBER of your work,” he wrote further.
Adam ended his post on a soft note expressing his feelings for everyone and wrote “I will miss you all.”
The actor made another post following the announcement of his exit after reading the comments of the viewers and the fans.
“To the @GeneralHospital viewers and fans. It’s been a honor being in your world, and feeling your passion,” he wrote.
He further mentioned
“To those who have written a goodbye, I’ve read every word and I’m deeply humbled. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Journey of Jagger Cates on General Hospital
John "Jagger" Cates, originally portrayed by Antonio Sabato Jr., made a debut in 1992 as a troubled high school dropout who rescued Ruby Anderson during a robbery at Kelly’s Diner.
Despite a challenging beginning, he formed a strong connection with Karen Wexler, who supported him in confronting his fears. Although he was involved in love triangles with Jason Quartermaine and Brenda Barrett, Jagger was truly in love with Karen.
They overcame numerous challenges, including surviving on an island and dealing with her hidden trauma, and ultimately the couple got married in 1994. Jagger later became a police officer, but his marriage to Karen eventually ended in divorce.
After a long absence, Jagger returned to Port Charles in 2008 as an FBI agent and a single father to his son, Stone, named after his dead brother. He then moved to San Francisco after his son was diagnosed with autism marking another exit of the character until he returned in February 2024, with Adam Harrington playing the role.
